Woodland Application

 

Grades Teacher

Woodland Charter School, in beautiful Murphy, Oregon, is seeking dynamic grades teachers for the 2017-2018 school year. We seek teachers to join our faculty of main lesson teachers (and special subjects teachers) in a public Waldorf-methods 1st through 8th grade charter school. We offer a competitive public school teacher’s salary with step increases, and a benefits package that includes paid sick leave, medical, dental and vision coverage, and a pension plan. We are one-two hours from: Crater Lake, the Stout Grove (giant redwoods), the Oregon Coast, and the Pacific Crest Trail, with many accessible high peaks. Our amazing local river systems offer rafting, kayaking, and swimming for water enthusiasts. Biodynamic and organic farms abound in this temperate zone, and we have many farmers in our school community.

Our school, which opened in October 2012 with 60 students, expects an enrollment of 200 students in September 2017 in grades 1- 8. Grades 1 though 8 will be stand-alone classes with 25 students each. Our curriculum includes the following special subjects: Spanish Language, Music (includes choral singing and string instruments), Handwork, Woodworking, Games/Movement and Gardening.

We are seeking imaginative, skillful, and confident Lead Teachers at Woodland Charter School. Lead teachers will be employed full-time and will be responsible for teaching main lesson, skills practice, and special subjects to grade level classes. Ideally, grades teachers will take their classes through the 8th grade.

Lead Teacher qualifications:

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an education related major

• Waldorf teaching certification or willingness to enroll in a Waldorf training program

• Oregon certification or registration with the TSPC, or the ability to be certified or registered

• Enthusiastic, creative, and loving with students

• Skill in art, music, drama, spatial dynamics, and/or foreign language

• Ability to work well with colleagues, administration, and parents

School Principal

Woodland Charter School, in beautiful Murphy, Oregon, is seeking a dynamic administrator to lead our school into its next phase of development. We are a first through eighth grade charter school with an expected enrollment of 200 in the 2017-18 school year.

We seek an experienced and enthusiastic leader with an understanding of Waldorf pedagogy and the knowledge of running a public charter school.  A successful candidate must have an Administrative credential and teaching experience is required.  Excellent interpersonal skills and a desire for warm collegiality with faculty and staff- and equally warm relationships with families and children- are vital characteristics that will ensure a good fit with our school community.

Music Teacher

Woodland Charter School, in beautiful Murphy, Oregon, is seeking a dynamic music teacher for the 2017-2018 school year or a teacher to start 2 days a week for the rest of the school year, then begin teaching 4 days a week in the fall. We are seeking an imaginative, skillful, and confident music teacher with skills in classroom management to join our faculty in a public Waldorf-methods 1st through 8th grade charter school. We offer choral singing to all grades, and strings to 3rd -8th grades. Classes are 2 times per week for 3rd grade and up, and once per week for first and second grade. Paid professional development opportunities and mentoring are offered.
