Celeste Manka

(Oak Class, 2nd Grade)

Celeste Manka joined Woodland Charter School in July 2018 as the class teacher of that year’s incoming first grade class. Celeste grew up among the redwoods in Trinidad, California with her wonderful sister and supportive caring parents. She attended a Waldorf-influenced elementary school where she gained the ability to enjoy the process of learning and approach challenges with creativity, confidence, and determination. Celeste attended California State University, Chico earning a bachelor’s degree in Child Development, a multiple subject teaching credential and a master’s degree in Education. While attending school in Chico she participated on the track and field team as a pole vaulter and worked for an outdoor company as a guide. She has enjoyed working with children from infants through high school age over the past ten years. This experience with multiple ages in a variety of settings has led Celeste to successfully teach kindergarten, first, fourth and fifth grades in the public school system for the past five years. Celeste loves the outdoors and considers it her favorite playground. She has a delightful horse named Ruger and a cuddly rabbit named Olaf. She spends most of her spare time outdoors enjoying the trails with Ruger. Celeste also loves to dance, listen to live music, spend time with friends and family, and learn new things.
