Woodland Charter School, located in the beautiful Siskiyou Mountains of southwest Oregon, seeks to hire outstanding educators to join our wonderful staff and learning community. WCS is in its 7th year of offering a public Waldorf curriculum to the greater Grants Pass community. We have eight stand-alone classes, first through eighth grade, with a current average class size of 22 students, and a traditional maximum class size of 25 students. Our lovely rural campus continues to expand, as we added four new classrooms in 2017 to meet the growing needs of our vibrant learning community, which includes a dedicated music room, handwork room, and resource room. Social Emotional Program Coordinator

Woodland Charter School seeks a Social Emotional Program Coordinator for our 1st-8th grade Public Waldorf School. This is a full time, salaried position and responsibilities would include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading developmentally appropriate, weekly SEL classes for each grade.
  • Support for students who are experiencing on-going behavioral and/or social issues.
  • Facilitate on-going campus projects for students to participate in. 
  • Assist teachers in developing care and connection plans for students.
  • Lead Social/Emotional and Positive Discipline activities in our weekly Faculty meetings. Facilitate community education classes and outreach relating to Social Emotional topics.


  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree, preferably with an education-related major

On-Site Substitute

Woodland Charter School seeks an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to complete our team. We are looking for an on-site substitute for our 1st-8th grade school. This individual would need to be ready to jump in wherever needed each day. Lesson plans will be provided. Classes include: 1st-8th grade all subjects, PE class, reading support or Handwork support. School hours are 7:30-3:15 Monday-Thursday.  Hourly rate ($19-22) depending on experience and licensure.

Teaching Assistant/Instructional Aide

Woodland Charter School is looking for a responsible and enthusiastic teacher’s aide to join our team. Our school is a public Waldorf school serving students of rural southern Oregon. We are located on a beautiful 19-acre campus in Murphy which allows us to incorporate plenty of outdoor education, art, music and gardening into our robust curriculum. As a teacher’s assistant, you will work with students in a whole group, small group and 1:1, as well as perform additional tasks to support teachers in providing a comprehensive educational program. Our ideal candidate is industrious, cooperative and knowledgeable about educational best practices and child development with a basic understanding of technology. Willingness and ability to learn and adapt are incredibly important in this role.


  • Work with the Class Teacher to coordinate and determine daily tasks
  • Complete tasks in a timely organized manner
  • Work with students individually or in small groups in a positive, supportive manner
  • Provide extra help as needed to students with physical, mental, or linguistic challenges
  • Prepare materials for lessons in a timely and organized manner.
  • Operate office equipment including computers, printers, photocopiers, and laminators

Positions Open for the 2022-2023 School Year

Education Director

Woodland Charter School is seeking an Education Director for our growing public Waldorf school. Located in a lovely rural setting, Woodland serves approximately 190 students in grades 1-8. We are looking for someone to help usher our school into the next phase of our growth. The administration of our school is split between two roles, the Business Director and the Education Director. These positions will work cooperatively and report to the Charter Council. This role requires flexibility, collaboration, great people skills, management experience, a background in education, and familiarity with Waldorf methods.

The main duties of this position are as follows:

  • Ensuring that Waldorf methods are implemented
  • Supporting faculty in integrating the Common Core as appropriate to Waldorf methods
  • Supervising and supporting faculty including attendance and participation in all Faculty meetings
  • Hiring and performance review of employees
  • Participating in the dispute and resolution procedure
  • Participating in 504 and IEP meetings
  • Communicating with parents on a regular basis
  • Coordinate the administration of Standardized Testing
  • Executing enrollment procedures
  • Co-leading the Leadership & Finance Committee
  • Supporting the vision of the school and planning future growth
  • Knowledge of and review of all school policies
  • Establishing procedures designed to carry out newly defined/adopted policies
  • Attending district administrative meetings as requested

Grades Teacher

Woodland Charter School is a public Waldorf charter school located in the beautiful Siskiyou mountains in Murphy, Oregon. We have an opening for a Class Teacher for the 2022-23 school year. We seek an excellent teacher to join our dynamic faculty. Our school, which opened in October 2012 with 60 students, expects an enrollment of around 180 students in September 2022 in grades 1- 8, with a class size limit of 25. Our public Waldorf curriculum includes Main Lesson, Handwork, PE, and Gardening. We are in the third year of our internal Student Support Program which provides academic assistance to all students in the school in both reading and math.
