Daniel Sloan

(Salmon Class)
“Daniel Sloan — or Mr. S to his students — joined Woodland in 2025 after two years teaching special education near Boston, MA. Born on the East Coast but raised in Grants Pass, he’s criss-crossed the country many times, with adventures into Canada and Europe; always seeking to learn from the world around him. Returning home, he’s excited to view his community from a new perspective and embrace the rhythms of the Applegate Valley.

Daniel earned his B.A. from the University of Portland, where he shifted from biomedical engineering to elementary education—discovering his calling in helping students unlock their potential in their own ways. With experience across diverse classrooms, communities, and teaching philosophies, he’s eager to keep growing at Woodland and is honored to guide the Salmon Class to the finish line.

Outside the classroom, he enjoys creative writing, art, acting, tabletop games, and training his Aussie-doodle puppy, Cookie—often a playful part of his classroom storytelling and art.
