Misti Johnstone

Misti has been living and teaching in the local area since 2012. She grew up in Houston, TX and went to college outside of Austin. She moved to the West Coast after college and worked in Outdoor Environmental Education in the Redwoods of Northern California. She then became a mother of two daughters, which sparked an interest in Waldorf Education. She began working at the Waldorf School of Mendocino County when her two daughters were ready for school. Her family moved to Southern Oregon where her daughters were enrolled in the first year of Woodland Charter School. Over the years at Woodland, Misti was a Charter Council member, helped to put on the school festivals, and did fundraising. She had a Waldorf pre-k/kindergarten program on her property for many years before becoming Woodland’s first kindergarten teacher in 2023. Misti is LifeWays trained Early Childhood Teacher and a Certified Waldorf Teacher. Her favorite things are spending time with her family, gardening, studying and making herbal medicine, camping at the coast, seeing live music, and vacationing in Kauai.
